MY BLOG

My blog is all about Indian vegetarian food. The South Indian traditional dishes take most of my space in cooking as everyone in my family likes them. I love the North Indian food as much as the South Indian food. So you can see a blend of all the Indian foods in my blog. Also you can see the Indianised versions of world cuisines. The recipes that I post on my blog are made by me in my kitchen. Some of them are the recipes directly from my Mom or aunt and most of them are my versions of old recipes. The recipes I post are simple and can be made by the beginners also. You need not be passionate about cooking, create interest, cook easily and eat joyfully.
As a child I used to help my mom in her kitchen and curiously watch her making the dishes. It was at the age of 8 that I have experimented cooking. I remember the first dish I made, rasam. During my holidays I used to go to my Grandmother's place where I was free to do my experiments in kitchen under the guidance of my aunt (atta), whom I like the most. Slowly my curiosity turned to interest and now cooking became my passion. This art of cooking can be simple for those who have interest and can be hard who don't like to.

I am a person who strongly believe that all the five senses come into play while eating, so cooking should be done with utmost care and interest. It is said that the eyes taste the food first. So the presentation should be pleasing to the eyes. Then comes the smell. The aroma of the dish should pull anyone into the kitchen and make them hungry even if they are not. Then comes the sense of touch. The feeling of hot or cold, soft or hard, sticky or dry and so on. The next comes the taste. According to Indian tradition there are six different tastes( Shadruchulu ). Sweet , Sour, Salt, Bitter, Hot, Tangy. The dish should have a good blend of all the tastes. Finally come the sense of hearing. The crispiness  and chewiness of certain dishes while eating make you crazy and you eat them for the fun of sound they make. Finally the dish should not only feed our stomach, but also feed our senses.
