DON'T DISCARD THE FLOWERS AFTER A FESTIVAL POOJA

For every important and big festivals all Hindus worship God with lots and lots of flowers. The stems are removed before offering them to God. You will not want to discard the beautiful flowers the very next day, but you can not arrange them in a flower vase as the stems are now removed. Of course the flowers also do not want their life to be one day!!!  yes, you can place them in a large deep tray as I do it every time.  The flowers stay fresh for 5 to 6 days if you change the water every day.

SEASHELLS CENTERPIECE

Some seashells(painted with blue), white craft sand, candles made this awesome centerpiece. Finally a few beads here and there gave the pearl effect to the sea look centerpiece.

After looking to the above centerpiece this may not impress you, but this is very simple and gives an elegant look to your table. Plain seashells, a glass tray and a candle and thats it........

CARD BOARD WALL SHELVES.

If you live in an apartment where you are restricted from drilling holes into the wall for arranging wall shelves or cubes then this will be a good idea. I used old cardboard box edges to make these wall shelves. I wrapped the card board in wrap paper. Pushpins from up and down can hold your decoratives. Although they cannot hold large weights, you can place small little things to give a new look to your room.

POPSICLE STICK TRAYS

I have already posted my crafts with ice cream sticks. Now I post the images of my popsicle stick trays.
You can make these in less than 15 minutes(of course the drying time is 2-3 hours).
Small, medium, large, square or rectangle.....any thing is cute. If you use best quality glue then the larger tray can be used as a fruit tray. I arranged the sticks in a row and glued some sticks at the bottom of the tray. The railing(sides) has two sticks glued together with one pair over another.

SEA SHELLS AND CANDLES

MY AMAZING MINIATURES

I like all small home decorations and very mini art pieces. This made me think of doing something mini. When I was a child I used to make clay miniatures......tables, chairs, pots and pans......Now I made these miniatures with soft modeling clay(will not dry at all). You can use polymer clay as it dries hard. There are many tutorials in youtube for making these fine mini decor.

I made these pom-poms  for decoration on my son's first birthday. A bunch of tissue papers with your own color choice makes these large pom poms in minutes. Low cost and satisfaction of making on your own are on your way. Give them a try.

RED AND BLACK PAPER ROSES

I turned an old discarded mirror into a wall hanging with red and black paper roses around it. I made the roses with construction paper.

FLOWER ARRANGEMENT IN DISCARDED CARDBOARD TUBE

SATIN ROSE FLOWER WALL DECORATIVE

satin roses
While I was searching YouTube I came by a video detailing the making a rose flower out of a tissue paper. I followed the same thing in making these small roses out of the satin ribbons. After making a bunch of different color roses I pasted them on a small cake base. You can use different colored and different sized ribbons. Make a couple of them and hang them on your wall.

ORANGE PEEL FLOWERS

Orange peel flowers
Orange peel is usually discarded or some times dried and powdered and used in face pack. Here I used the orange peel to make this wall art. Cut the peel into your favorite shape, peel off all of the white  layer . Dry the pieces in shade until all the moisture is removed and the pieces turn brittle. If the pieces are dried in sun the color of orange peel changes so dry them in shade.  Now paste them on a cardboard. You can even paint the pieces with different colors. This natural orange color stays for a longer time if the pieces are given a coating of clear varnish or clear nail polish.

TRAY WITH NEWS PAPERS

tray
Here I made a tray with news papers. I rolled a bunch news papers into cylinder. Roll them into a thick cylinder and paste the edges. Cover this cylinder with a colored paper. Make 20 of these cylinders and stack 5 of them and paste them on a cardboard. Each stack of 5 cylinders should be pasted individually and dried thoroughly before assembling the tray. Use the try as a napkin holder or mail holder.
