POTATO FRY

Potato Fry
  The only vegetable that everyone love to eat is potato.There are nearly 4000 varieties of potatoes grown in the world.White,red russets,yellows or the purples,anything may be the variety ,potato itself gives a great taste to the dish. Use the potatoes whole or cut,skin-on or peeled,boiled or baked or roasted. This is also the only vegetable that can be combined with any other vegetable to enhance the taste.Here's a simple potato fry which can be made in minutes.

INGREDIENTS
  • potatoes                              1/2kg
  • onions                                  1 large
  • oil                                         4 Tsp
  • salt                                       to taste
  • turmeric                               a pinch
  • paprika or red chili powder   1tsp
  • jeera(cumin seeds)               1 tsp
PROCEDURE
Peel the potatoes and cut them into equal sized pieces.Cut the onion also similar to potato pieces. Heat the pan and pour the oil and once the oil is heated add the potato pieces.Add the turmeric and let cook for 3 minutes with the lid covered. Now remove the lid and increase the flame and add the onions. Let cook for another 2 minutes stirring in between. Now add the salt and if desired add a tablespoon of oil. Keep on stirring occasionally till all the ingredients have a crisp golden color. Now finally add the chilly powder/paprika and cumin seeds , stir for 30 seconds and serve.
TIPS
  • To enhance the taste of the dish try masala karam or jeelakarra kara instead of chilly powder.
  • To get a perfect crisp layer on potato pieces do not cover the fry pan(expect at the start).
